The Bronco comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four that outputs 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The uprated engine is a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 310 horsepower plus 400 lb-ft of torque. Both engines pair to a 10-speed automatic transmission that makes great use of the available power. If you choose, you can outfit the inline-four with a seven-speed manual transmission that features low-range gearing for off-roading.
All trims come standard with four-wheel drive. If you're planning to off-road, you'll enjoy features like beadlock capable wheels, mud-terrain tires, travel dampers, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and a sway-bar disconnect feature. All models are capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds.
The Bronco is available in a stunning array of configurations. You can choose between two- and four-door models, soft-top and hard-top models, and options to remove the body panels and turn the Bronco into an open-air vehicle. Several interior features are designed for adventure as well, such as a rack on the dash for GoPro cameras and a nearby 12-volt plug, rubberized flooring, and marine-grade upholstery.
The side mirrors are mounted to the body, so it's still street legal with the doors removed. Another highlight is the inclusion of trail sights on the fenders, which are used to test corners on narrow trails. You can also use the trail sights as tie-downs since they boast a 150-pound capacity.
The Bronco comes with the intuitive SYNC® 4 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen. Several features are included, such as a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot for connectivity on the go and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration for streaming music and other media from a smartphone. Optional upgrades include navigation and a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
For safety, the Bronco offers forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, a feature that alerts you to potential frontal crashes and applies the brakes. You could also add lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, which alerts you if you drift out of your lane and gently guides you back. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available as well, which warns you if there's a nearby pedestrian or vehicle while you're switching lanes or backing up. Several safety features are available for off-roading, such as a low-speed rock crawl mode.
