2021 Ford Expedition Review

Ford Expedition Review

Most SUVs these days—even larger ones—are of the crossover variety, built on a unibody frame. A true, classic body-on-frame SUV with truck-like performance and feel is a rarity, and Ford keeps proudly waving that flag with the Expedition.

The Expedition comes in two different configurations and is loaded with power and technology as well as having a cavernous interior. It's no wonder that it's so popular around Tunkhannock, Dallas, Harveys Lake, and Wilkes-Barre, PA. To learn more, read this 2021 Ford Expedition review from Tunkhannock Ford.

2021 Ford Expedition Overview

Ford Expedition RedThe 2021 Ford Expedition is available in two configurations: the standard and the extended MAX configuration. It can also be had in any of five trim levels, including the XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. It's worth mentioning that the MAX body style is available with every trim except the XL STX. All versions of the Expedition are powered by a turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that at the base level gets 375 horsepower with 470 lb-ft of torque and at the top Platinum level nets you 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.

The Expedition can be equipped with the Ford Co-Pliot360™ Assist package as an optional add-on to the existing Ford Co-Pilot360™ safety suite. Where the basic safety package nets you lane-keeping features, crash warning and automatic braking, cross-traffic alerts, and blind-spot monitoring, the upgraded suite adds to that a full-speed adaptive cruise control feature and improved navigation system to take your safety to the next level.

All the Power You Need—On-Road and Off

The Ford Expedition, when properly equipped with the advanced towing package, can take up to 9,300 pounds of trailer, vehicle, flatbed, or other cargo weight behind you, which competes for class-leading by a long shot. In terms of cargo capacity, you get 20.9 cubic feet in the back, 63.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats, and a full 104.6 (121.5 cubic feet if you choose the MAX) with all the seats folded down.

Add the FX4 Off-Road Package, and you'll get extra features like an electronic limited-slip differential, automatic two-speed four-wheel drive, underbody skid plates, a heavy-duty radiator, and a 360-degree top-down camera to see what's around you all the time.

Features

Ford Expedition XLTKick it up to the XLT trim, and you get the full Ford SYNC® infotainment system with voice commands, a bright and crisp 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® smartphone support, and more. The SYNC® system is among the most celebrated on the market, and when you opt for the premium 12-speaker sound system by B&O, you're really getting next-level entertainment.

Luxury features at the top level include full leather upholstery with heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and even massage functions in the seats. Convenience features like automatic rain-sensing wipers and power-retracting running boards are a great touch and really push the SUV’s capabilities.
