2022 Ford Expedition: Power, Towing & New Tech

2022 Ford Expedition Review

The Expedition base trim comes equipped with a High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, while the power output for this generation is 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

When equipped with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, its maximum towing capacity is 9,200 pounds. To reach that level, you need the optional Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ 2.0, available 360-Degree Camera, and the Trailer Reverse Guidance system. With these features, it is easy to see how the maximum towing capacity is only the beginning for you and your trailer, RV, or boat for the next adventure.

For when you take to the wilds, the 2022 Expedition Timberline trim features the latest in Trail Control™ technology, which works in conjunction with the braking and throttle systems to give even more control on rough, uneven terrain, and steep grades. Also included in this tech suite are Trail Turn Assist, Zone Lighting, and Hill Descent Control.

2022 Ford Expedition: Infotainment

2022 Ford Expedition Review

Arguably the biggest revelation of the 2022 Expedition is the addition of available SYNC® 4A. This opens numerous possibilities on the road. It combines conversational voice recognition and Connected Built-In Navigation, which also works when offline. Then there’s the Software Update capability, which allows your vehicle to receive updates and install them seamlessly.

Other updates include a now-standard 12.2-inch touchscreen. It also has the ability for configurable split-screen capability, not to mention the inclusion of enhanced voice recognition. This allows you to make calls, listen to your favorite playlists, and get directions. An available option is the 15.5-inch touchscreen, which features a portrait-oriented display that includes adaptive dash card tech.

Finally, the Expedition Timberline now comes with a completely digital instrument cluster. Its available 12.4-inch multicolor productivity screen provides clear and customizable driving and vehicle info on a brilliant digital layout.

2022 Ford Expedition: Driving-Assistive Features

One of the important systems available on the 2022 Expedition is Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering. Adaptive Cruise Control is familiar to most drivers, but if not, it lets you set a cruising speed and following distance from cars ahead of you.

The Stop-and-Go function enables you to come to a complete stop when the vehicle ahead stops. The final ingredient is Lane Centering, which scans the lane markings to help you stay in your lane if the system detects you’re drifting out of it.
