Ford Bronco vs Subaru Crosstrek: Engines

Ford Bronco Engine Specs

When it comes to choosing an SUV, you want to be sure you have one that’s strong enough to handle whatever lies on or off the road ahead. To meet these expectations, both the Ford Bronco and Subaru Crosstrek offer two engine options.

With the Ford Bronco, you’ll find a standard 2.3L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine, which delivers up to a stunning 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. There is also the available 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine, which provides even more power with 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Meanwhile, the Crosstrek’s offerings fall behind, with its standard 2.0L SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder engine delivering up to 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Even the available, more powerful, 2.5L SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder engine falls short, offering up to 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque.

Ford Bronco vs Subaru Crosstrek: Performance

When it comes to getting the best performance from your choice of engine, both the Bronco and the Crosstrek offer automatic and manual transmission options. With the Bronco, you’ll have the choice between a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 7-speed manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the Crosstrek offers an available Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), but the standard 6-speed manual transmission doesn’t quite keep up with the Bronco’s 7-speed option.

Both SUVs also feature 4-wheel or all-wheel drive systems, with the Ford Bronco coming standard with a Part-Time Selectable Engagement 4x4 system. It also offers an available Advanced 4x4 system with Automatic On-Demand Engagement. The Subaru Crosstrek comes equipped with a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Ford Bronco vs Subaru Crosstrek: Interior

Ford Bronco Interior

Just because SUVs are rugged doesn’t mean your ride has to be. Both the Bronco and Crosstrek feature seating for up to five passengers along with available leather-trimmed seating and heated front seats.

What sets the Ford Bronco apart, however, is its capability for open-air adventure. With removable doors and roof, a feature not found on the Crosstrek, you can feel the wind through your hair while feeling the rush of adventure.

The Bronco also wins when it comes to cargo space. While both vehicles feature roomy storage areas, the Ford Bronco tops out at 83 cubic feet of maximum space, while the Crosstrek only reaches a maximum of 55.3 cubic feet.
