Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Trim Levels
Of the 10 trim levels that the Ford Escape has to offer, six of them are hybrid or plug-in hybrid models, such as the SE Hybrid or Titanium Plug-in Hybrid. What’s so special about these trim levels?
Both the 2.5L hybrid engine and the 2.5L plug-in hybrid engine offer 165 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. However, while the hybrid offers 200 total system horsepower, the plug-in has 221 total system horsepower.
The biggest difference comes down to the gas mileage. The hybrid model gives you a lot of extra miles, as the engine uses both gasoline and electricity, giving you an EPA-estimated 44 city and 37 highway MPG.
But when you charge the plug-in hybrid, you get a whopping 105 combined MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent) before you have to recharge.

Different Trim Levels and Wheel Sizes
Between the 10 trim levels, you have seven different wheel options. These are various configurations of the same three sizes:
- Standard 17-inch wheels
- Optional 18-inch wheels
- Optional 19-inch wheels
What size do you need? The bigger the wheel, the stronger the grip you’ll have on the road, which is why heavy-duty trim levels, like the Titanium, offer 19-inch wheels and why this size comes in the SE Sport Appearance Package.
After size, you can also find a wheel that has the right style. Between steel wheels with Sparkle Silver paint to machined-face Ebony painted aluminum wheels with painted pockets, there’s a wheel that’s sure to dazzle as it spins around on the road.
Enjoy the Climate Control Options
Your trim levels also offer you plenty of variety when it comes to interior comfort. Take your temperature control, for instance.
On the S and SE trim levels, you have the benefit of a manual climate control system letting you adjust the temperature to your liking.
Moving up to the SEL and Titanium trims, along with their hybrid versions, you have the advantage of dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control. This system divides the cabin into two zones and automatically adjusts the temperature to stay at the level you prefer throughout your drive.
Optional on only the SE trim level, however, is the special choice of electronic automatic temperature control with a rear air duct. Enjoy all the benefits of an automatic air system with the bonus of a rear duct to help airflow in the back of the cabin.
