Local Spotlight: Dress for Success Lackawanna

Since 1999, Dress for Success Lackawanna has been serving women all over Northeastern Pennsylvania, including Lackawanna, Wyoming, Susquehanna, Wayne, Pike, and Monroe Counties. As part of a network of over 150 affiliates that stretches across the world, Dress for Success Lackawanna strives to empower women to gain their economic independence.

They accomplish this by providing women with a support network, professional apparel, and resources to facilitate their personal and professional advancement. Over the years, they’ve aided over 6,000 women. Read on to learn a little about what they do.

Dress for Success Lackawanna Programs

The women who receive services from Dress for Success have been referred by such partner non-profit organizations and government agencies as domestic violence shelters, immigration services, and homeless shelters. Here are the basic services that they receive:

• Job Training. The Job Training program provides women with a valuable network of support where they can interact with other clients as well as discuss topics pertaining to their job search.
• Suiting. In order to put forth the best possible appearance for an upcoming job interview, a client is given one business suit as well as available accessories. Additional clothing items will be provided to her when she gets the job.
• Employment Retention. Dress for Success Lackawanna doesn’t stop at helping clients gain employment. They’re also dedicated to doing their best to aid clients in job retention. This program focuses on making sure women are able to develop professional skills and manage their personal finances.
