The Dietrich Fall Film Festival in Tunkhannock is a celebration of inspiring foreign and independent films. If you’re looking for a bit of entertainment outside of the norm, visit the Dietrich Theater through October 3rd!

Movie Night The Dietrich Fall Film Festival represents one of the area’s best opportunities to check out lesser known films and documentaries. They range from debuts from up-and-coming directors to rich niche works by longtime industry titans.

Some spectators won’t be content just to watch however, in which case they can take a deeper dive with an after-show film Q&A. During the last week of the festival, you’ll have two great movies to check out.

  • Wednesday, October 2nd: Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, followed by a Q&A with Dr. Richard Hancuff of Misericordia University.
  • Thursday, October 3rd: Where’d You Go, Bernadette, including a novel and film comparison with Bill Chapla.

Admission for the for the festival is a flat showing fee of $8.50. All tickets are available online and at the Dietrich Theater ticket booth.


About the Dietrich Theater

After its 1936 opening by George Dietrich, this historic theater was a Tunkhannock landmark for almost 50 years. Though it closed in the 1980s, a renovation project would begin in the late 1990s with a second grand opening in April of 2001.

Since its re-opening, the Dietrich Theater has been a haven for local film lovers, showing a wide range of movies including blockbusters, foreign, independent, and classics. It’s also a local space for live performances like plays and concerts.
