About Tunkhannock Public Library

Tunkhannock Public Library HistoryThe Tunkhannock Public Library has grown immensely since its beginnings in 1890, when it once only held just under 300 books. Today, the library holds a collection of all sorts of books from a range of genres including fiction, mystery, history, romance, and biographies, just to name a few!

If you have your own collection of books at home you’d like to donate, feel free to bring them into the library to donate. The team at Tunkhannock Public Library also operates Cooper’s Corner Book Store, a gently used bookstore that gladly sells any donated books in excellent condition.

Community Programs and Events

The Tunkhannock Public Library is more than just a place where you borrow and return books. It’s also a hub of the local Tunkhannock community, where neighbors of all ages can commune together and bond over a love of both reading and fun.

Here, they’ll be able to participate in all sorts of activities including Preschool Storytime on Wednesday mornings and the Parent & Me Block Party every third Tuesday of the month.
  • Teen Programs: Educational and motivating programs are available for teenagers as well, including Reading Rewards where they are challenged to read for at least 60 minutes a day and everyday chess and puzzle games to take a much-needed break.
  • Adult Programs: Bring a friend or come alone, either way you’ll have the chance to meet your neighbors in the community while playing a game of Mah Jong, learning how to knit with the Knutty Knitters, or signing up for a fitness class. All these adult programs and more are available at the Tunkhannock Public Library.

In addition to these ongoing programs, the library holds events all throughout the year for all ages. Be sure to stop by for the biannual Book Sale in April and October and get ready for holiday-themed events including the Man vs. Monster Bash in October and the Christmas Show in December.
