On one end of the spectrum, you’ll have the 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost® engine available in the ST trim level. This performance powertrain was made for muscle-heads, producing a whopping 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. That equates to next-level pedal-to-metal power.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have our premium fuel-sipper. The SUV now offers an eco-friendly 3.3L Hybrid engine. With this outfit, you can grow your fuel economy and shrink your carbon footprint all at once.

Cutting-Edge Technology Features

To really elevate your next road trip, the Explorer goes beyond high performance to secure high convenience and entertainment.

One of the most eye-catching aspects of the cabin is the 8-inch LCD touchscreen that’s found in the center stack. Its large size makes it possible for you to quickly and easily access whatever controls and settings you would like throughout the drive while still allowing you to maintain your unwavering focus on the road in front of you.

The available 10.1-inch LCD Capacitive Portrait Touchscreen allows for even easier access. Sized like a tablet, this available touchscreen is your foremost infotainment hub. It allows you to set navigation, play music, and make hands-free calls.

Behind the steering wheel, you’ll also have a 6.5-inch LCD productivity screen in the instrument cluster that lets you keep track of the SUV’s performance while you’re driving. This feature gets a boost with the 12.3-inch digital cluster. It comes standard on the ST and Platinum trims and replaces traditional MPG and speed gauges with digitized readouts. Another available Ford Explorer technology feature that’s well worth noting is the wireless charging pad. It will keep everyone’s phones fully charged throughout the trip without the need to bring along any of those unruly charger cords. The wireless charging pad is conveniently located in front of the center console armrest where it can be accessed easily.
