Space Inside the Escape vs Cherokee

The Escape has a spacious interior with 40 inches of headroom up front and 39.3 inches of headroom in the back row. There are also 42.4 inches of legroom in the front row and 40.7 inches of legroom in the second row of the Ford Escape.

The Jeep Cherokee doesn’t offer quite as much room with just 39.4 inches of headroom and 41.1 inches of legroom in its front row. Its second row is also more limited with space having 38.5 inches of headroom and 40.3 inches of legroom.

Each SUV gives you additional room for cargo behind both rows as well as the ability to fold down the rear seats and use more of the cabin space for cargo.

Which Vehicle Gets Better Gas Mileage?

While both standard engines produce a solid amount of power, the 1.5L EcoBoost® in the new Ford Escape will do a better job at conserving fuel. It gets a fuel economy of 27 city/33 highway MPG.

The Jeep Cherokee gets slightly less out of each gallon of gas, especially when just riding around town. It has a standard fuel economy of 22 city/31 highway MPG. The Ford Escape also has an available hybrid powertrain that will give you 44 city/37 highway MPG.

Since the Cherokee doesn’t have a hybrid option, it doesn’t offer anything that comes close to the fuel efficiency of the available hybrid engine of the Escape.

Safety Features of the Ford Escape vs Jeep Cherokee

With either SUV, there are a range of safety features that help keep you alert and out of harm’s way while driving. The main difference is a lot of these systems come standard in the Ford Escape while they require an upgrade in trim levels to have them in the Jeep Cherokee.
