Ford F-150 Trim Levels
In addition to being known for their tremendous brawn and impressive towing capabilities, pickup trucks are also known for their customization options. Offering six distinct trims with numerous configurations available, the 2021 Ford F-150sits in a class all its own.
Tunkhannock, Dallas, Harveys Lake, and Wilkes-Barre drivers looking for the perfect Ford F-150 trim level can check out this comparison by the Tunkhannock Ford team. We’ll show you what each trim has to offer before setting you up with a test drive! Continue reading to see a few of the highlights for each trim.
First Things First: Cabs & Cargo
Before we dive into the trim levels themselves, it’s important to note that across the board, you have three cabs to choose from. Since they vary in size, it makes sense that they can alter the size of your cargo bed, too.
- Available cabs: Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew.
- Available box sizes: 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8-foot
Since the Regular cab offers one row of seats, it’s commonly paired with either an 8-foot or 6.5-foot box. By comparison, the SuperCab and SuperCrew each offer seating for up to six and can be paired with the available 5.5-foot box.
The XL Trim: A Worker’s Baseline
Setting the stage for the 2021 model year’s Ford F-150 lineup, we have perhaps one of the most customizable trim levels in the entire family. Within it, you can select from the following:
- Six engine options
- Three cab options
- Three bed options
The F-150 XL offers up a 4x2 driveline to start, as well as seating for three with a 40/20/40 split front seat. As it favors cargo capabilities over passenger capacity, it tends to be seen as a more apt truck for towing and transporting work equipment.
Granted, the XL offers plenty of interior amenities for leisure time, too. For instance, there’s the standard 8-inch touchscreen in the center stack that makes it easy to access all of your favorite music and connectivity features.
The XLT Trim: An Interior Upgrade
While it does include many of the same features as the XL trim level, the F-150 XLT builds on them with even more interior features.
For example, your infotainment system gets an upgrade since the SYNC® 4 interface can now include Enhanced Voice Recognition; this system allows you to access its features without taking your hands off of the wheel. This voice-activated system adds in wireless phone connection, allowing you to continue to conduct your conversation from the road.
The Lariat Trim: More Towing Capacity
If you have need for a little extra towing capability, the Ford F-150 Lariat is where we start to see some key upgrades.
First and foremost, this trim is available with a 2-Speed Automatic 4-Wheel Drive system with Neutral Towing Capability. The addition of a 4x4 driveline ensures that you have optimal grip on loose or slippery roads, even with the added weight of a trailer.
The Lariat is also available with Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ that helps keep your pickup and trailer better aligned when backing into tight spaces.
The King Ranch Trim: Intelligent Technologies
In the style department, the King Ranch successfully brings attention to itself, thanks to the available 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with Light Caribou-Painted Pockets. Inside, the carpeted King Ranch floor mats add a touch of class and convenience to your day.
The Platinum Trim: Trailer Safety
Next up is the Ford F-150 Platinum trim. It adds in some very useful safety features for towing excursions. The BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert comes standard in the Platinum trim. Plus, there’s the available Trailer Tow Coverage. It’ll let you know whenever there’s another vehicle or hazard in one of your blind spots, including a trailer blind spot.
The Limited Trim: Driver-Assist Gadgets
Finally, there’s the Limited trim level. It offers peak driver-assisting safety. It comes standard with a bevy of Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0 technologies.
For one thing, you’ll now have the Lane-Keeping System. If your truck drifts out of its intended lane at any point, this feature will apply mild corrective steering to get you back on course.
You’ll even have an Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go system as a part of the also standard Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist 2.0. Now you can easily manage busy commutes and long bouts of highway travel with greater ease.
